Two generations, one idea about getting dressed
Evelyn & Olivia began with a simple observation: most clothing is designed for someone in a hurry. Cut for a body that never sits down, fastened in ways that assume nimble fingers, styled for a season that has already passed. Very little of it is made for the woman who knows exactly who she is and would simply like something comfortable, well-shaped and quietly beautiful to put on in the morning.
The name is the idea rather than two people. Evelyn stands for the older of the two — the good coat that has lasted twenty years, and the eye that can tell at a glance whether a seam has been finished properly. Olivia stands for the younger — what is being worn now, brought home and made wearable. Between the two sits everything we sell: the ease and reassurance of the first, the freshness of the second. Naming the shop that way was our way of describing what we look for. There is no Evelyn and no Olivia to ask for on the telephone; there is a team, and it answers to info@evelynandolivia-toronto.com.
What we sell
We are an online clothing shop serving customers across Canada, for women and men over sixty. Dresses, blouses and knitwear. Trousers cut with room to move and waistbands that give rather than grip. Coats and jackets for the long stretch between the first cold morning and the last of the winter. Orthopedic and cushioned footwear for feet that have carried someone a good distance already. Two-piece sets for the days when getting dressed should be one decision rather than four.
Every piece is chosen with the same question in mind: will this still feel right at four in the afternoon?
Who we are for
Our customers are, for the most part, women in their sixties, seventies and eighties — and increasingly the men in their lives, which is why our range has grown to include them. They are not looking to be transformed. They are looking for clothes that fit properly, wash well, and do not require negotiating with a zip at the back.
We take that seriously. It shapes the fabrics we look for, the fastenings we favour, the size ranges we insist on carrying, and the way we write about a garment — plainly, so you know what you are ordering before it arrives.
Our mission
To make getting dressed easy again for women and men who have earned the right to stop thinking about it. That means clothing that fits real bodies across a genuinely wide range of sizes, described honestly, and backed by people who answer when you write to them.
How we look after you
- Sizes that go further. Most of our range runs well beyond the standard four sizes, because a good cut is worth nothing if it stops at XL.
- Descriptions you can rely on. We write what a piece actually is — the cut, the fastening, the length, the feel. No guesswork, no surprises when the box is opened.
- A real person at the other end. Write to us and you will hear back from someone who can look up your order and help. We are a small team and we like it that way.
